Add three words

The list of prompt words to turn into a poem is a poem in itself. Take a (random?) List and add around three words and make a poem out of it: my invented form?

Infinity
(Is)
(The)
Eternal
(Creator)
Sharing
Endless
Love

FALL INTO JOY

The prompt asked to write about joy or celebration 'dance among the clouds' and maybe try a pleiades poem( single word title. Each word of the seven line poem starts with the same letter as the title. I went one step further. I did an acrostic pleiades chain poem where each letter of the title is a one word which is then the title of a pleiades poem ie. Fall into grace has 9 letters = 9 pleiades poems. Since there was no opportunity  to do any poems about Autumn I took this opportunity.

FALL

Fall into school rhythms
Fall into a pile of leaves
Forget summertime blues
Fill your jars with preserves
Find scarf and your toque
Fasten on winter tires
Feel the chill in the night

AUTUMN

Afternoon's golden light
After school homework time
Apricots lie rotting
All new shows on the tube
Astroturf glory dreams
Ash in the wind burnt grass
Agricultural fairs

LEAVES

Lends trees earthy palettes
Lemon drop orange peel and
Lava splash hazelnut
Let go of green float free
Like prairie buffalo
Leaves gallop by in herds
Letting the breeze drive them

LABOUR

Labour day classic game
Last party of summer
Lug up the winter gear
Leaves corralled into piles
Ladders against the eaves
Lever off summer screens
Let the harvest begin

ICY

Icy wind bites my neck
Inching frost paints windows
Igloo lumps on the lawn
Icicles like daggers
Itching sneezing coughing
Indian summer springs
In the warm air haze hangs

NOVEMBER

Not in Canada eh
Now the states get turkey
Notice red poppy pins
Never forget brave troops
No men charitable
Needs to be a contest
No shaves for mowvmber

THANKSGIVING

Travel to the hometown
Taste the gravy add spice
Turnips parsnips and corn
Turkey golden stuffed
Top yams with marshmallow
Tell us why you're grateful
Take time to be thankful

OCTOBER

One month of school is over
Octpowrimo begins
Only in Canada
Our thanksgiving's early
Opal moring sunrise
Orange has so many shades
Order a pumpkin spice

JACKETED

Jeans hoodies and jackets
Journey to grandma's house
Jars of jelly all kinds
Juice of apples boiled down
Jug of cider spiced up
Jigsaw by candlelight
Jacketed cobs roasted

O'LANTERN

October ends scary
Old clothes become costumes
O'henry Cadbury Mars
Oh my what are you dear
On trees white streamers drape
On the stroke of midnight
Only saints rule the day

YEAR-END

Yields from fields gathered in
Year end reports collated
Yard work put off dealt with
Yew trees covered in snow
Yeasty smells from pastry
Yule logs coming soon
Young ones start making lists

Count your Diamonds

God
Jesus
Holy Ghost
All created
Form given life breathed
Spotless lamb sinless man
Angel's watching over you
King of heaven prince of peace
Back beaten brow pierced suffered for us
Zero sin zero bodies in the tomb
Weeping repenting admitting need
You've become a child of the king
Your needs met your fear is gone
You walk in perfect peace
Join the family
The world over
Spirit filled
Poured out
Love

Syllables by the number. The prompt had a list of meanings applied to some numbers. I just made each number the number of syllables in each line and tried to keep the meaning both ways

1 unity
2 duality
3 spiritual/mystical
4 universal
5 human life
6 perfection
7 lucky
8 auspicious
9 pain/sadness
0  nothing

Split Dilemma

I thought I was broken

There was a schism

Fracture widened by lies spoken

It became  a chasm

I felt that I had no choice

No way to cross the great divide

My soul mocks with silent voice

Echoing pain rattles inside

Like a form of emotional autism

Hardened heart as an acorn oaken

Thought splits as light through prism

Gate closed I have no token

Gentle touch wove side to side

Your love spanned the canyon

Mending holes in tattered pride

Bridged by my companion

Helping me to feel whole

I can freely move down the road

Hot passion cracked the seed in soul

From stressful work to peaceful abode

Green Machine

Kermit once said
It ain't easy being green
True unless you live here
In Regina Saskatchewan Canada
Our team is
 the Saskatchewan Rough Riders
I know it sounds like a condom brand
But we are LOUD and proud
The team color is GREEN
like grass that feeds cattle
Or new growth of wheat
Or the trees around northern lakes
Or a crisp Canadian $ 20 bill
Or the algae in Wascana lake
Today I worked around the stadium
We played the BC Lions
And we won for once
Not that it matters
Green is loyalty
The color of the eternal optimism
Of spring
I stood against the wind
Watching a sea of green
Watermelon hats and green wigs
Babies in green
Grandmas in green
Green machine
Bleed green

We are the Charmed ones

When I met you I was turned inside out
I stuffed it back in put a lid on it
I guess I was scared I was full of doubt
If I am honest I was full of shit

What could a smart thing like you see in me
I asked while waxing so introspective
Revealed in your eyes the man i could be
Now i have found a changed perspective

Lips like witches brew my sly heart has won
Tender fingers wove Fey spells in my hair
I want to be your familiar one
I don't  want to be just your teddy bear

Still so many secrets to find and set free
You me and God show the power of three

Swing Wide the Gate

A crown Triquain.

Door opened
If you hear the knocking
Your friend and your saviour standing there
Lift the latch invite him gentle man he steps in
He will feed refresh your hungry soul
If you choose no response
Door stays closed

*

Gate stands firm
When you are in his fold
He's the gate the shephard rod and staff
Sword and shield stands against those who would  stalk the night
Even if you must stray he's the way
All who will return home
Gate swing wide

*
Open heart
Open mind to the word
Don't ignore sin crouching  at your door
Blood covers the door posts overhead dark held back
Door of hope light revealed songs of youth
Prison gates fall like my
Once closed heart

*

Heavy veil
Over eyes blocking truth
Thick barrier between God and people
Only few can pass through seek mercy for others
Temple gates keep the crowd out to wait
Jesus died once for all
Curtain torn

*

Floodgate shows
The store room of heaven
A wide door of service has opened
Seek and find ask receive knock and it will open
Step through the door of  faith if you would
Humble prayer will melt the
Brass heavens

Open Heaven

(Opening. Open. Tried a chance poem. Open the newspaper point to random words on random pages. Each word becomes the last word of each line.)

Not everyone is open to surprises
You can't control what happens
It's hard to leave your heart unguarded

Live outside my means not affordably
Sow money to the wind give God the rest
Suddenly my debt is as bloated as Trump

Wanna be free fling aside tradition
Find what I believed to be inadequate
What I thought was freedom was ritual

Mad dreams unlocked vivid memories
Forced to my knees I came to a decision
I'll not speak a word not empowering

Gape at the mean words I hear  frequently
I'll make that stand for tolerance
Variety makes humanities buffet spicy

Life freely give saved us from sin's auction
Transfusion clears the heart's hateful illness
Peaceful eternity in prayer is just a sample

Blood Drops

Look at me. I'm  a man who lives with cats. Not a crazy cat dude. I also live with two women. One is my wife. One is my sister. My wife said, 'I'd kinda like to get a cat.' My sister said, 'I'm a dog person.' So we got a cat. It played with our hearts like a ball of yarn. My practical wife feeds and cleans and loves. My sister spoils like the professional auntie she's made herself. My cousin said, 'I've got a cat needs a home.' Sometimes the fur flew. Then they learned to fight nice and share. Sometimes life is a cat that won't be caged. Sometimes it gets knocked down. Sometimes it's a tree. My niece said, 'I've got a kitten needs big hearts.' Ours had a cat shaped hole. This new thing is hard to tame and hard to refuse. One minute it steals out of your mouth. The other minute it melts in your arms. Then it chews the hands that feed it. We take the scratches along with the warmth and cuddles. Love is here to stay. This lone wolf has found his pack not even stones drive me away.

Kitten looks fluffy

Sharp teeth sharp claws I'm bigger

I will not bite back

Loose Reins

Another desperate attempt at a palindrome poem.  Someday...I'll still find it difficult

Your broken heart gave
The soul poisoned drain
Can you win if
You fight too.
Will you know more
 torture in your
Room giving
Free pain
Loose reins
*
Loose reins
Pain free
Giving room
You're in torture
 no more
You will to fight you
If win you can
Drain poisoned soul then
Give your heart a break

Got a minute?

No inspiration? Pick the brains of family, friends, and coworkers.  Steal thier ideas. As a bible school professor said 'gather your milk from many sources and make your own cheese'. This minute poem is what came out.

I asked my sis how do you know
Her mind to blow
Education
Intuition

She said experience and sense
Sense I said dense
You know see feel
Touch and it's real

What about love can you tell me
It's a farce see
True love is fake
Get what you make

********

What's love got to do with it
It's an old fashioned emotion
Emotion is confused for love
Love is a choice
Choice and rare like a good steak
Steak a claim it may be taken
Taken the wrong way
Way out of my league
League of heroes
Heroes born from love lost
Lost and found
Found family closer than a brother
Brother I love you like bacon
Bacon and lettuce and tomato
Tomato soup and grilled cheese
Cheese geeze I'm hungry
....this poem is done

Time Loop

Sitting with my Filipina friend
Just as coffee break was about to end

I asked her what she thought of time
Not a penny a thought I got a dime

Things go too fast over here
Here Canadians always gotta go
Go go go go till you ready to drop
Drop the clock you might longer

Back home things are in slow motion
Work hard rest if you've the notion

Look at me I'm 60 years old
Here's  some thoughts pure gold

Time don't really matter to you
You gotta enjoy the moment you're in
In each moment is eternity see
See it touch it but try to hold it's gone

Time is a dragon you have to tame
Seduce it befriend it play it's game

Learn to ride to the treasures of heart
Turn your back ignore it'll tear you apart.

Twisted trio

I couldn't decide which poetry style to choose.  So I did one of each. I want peace, love, and light.

Light still shines
Rays beam forth
Shadows fall
Light Lances the heart
Making it expand
Fear is no more
But be ever vigilant

Darkness falls
Over all the land
Shadows rise
The darkness recoils
It writhes and screeches
With a roar it is gone
Pieces will always  remain

Darkness falls
Light still shines
Over all the land
Rays beam forth
Shadows rise
Shadows fall
The darkness recoils
Light Lances the heart
It writhes and screeches
Making it expand
With a roar it is gone
Fear is no more
Pieces will always  remain
But be ever vigilant

*******

Heart in pain hold not
Go let words hard when
Quickly stopped has
Hurt me so
Found not
Peace
Not found
So me hurt
Has stopped quickly
When hard words let go
Not hold pain in heart

*******
When it seems no one is caring
Love is

No one is on your side?
Love is

Need something strong
Love is

When hope isn't there
Love is

When nothing's there to take your shame
Love is

Where your heart returns
Love is

Squishing squeezing teasing pleasing
Love is
Sacrifice

Love
Is
God
Is
Love

Once Upon Time

Once upon time
I did depend
To give me a bright tomorrow

Once upon rhyme
My emotions I'd spend
To lance and drain all sorrow

Once upon bedtime
On my mattress descend
For a rested tomorrow

Once upon a dime
I'd save and not spend
Then live like a pharoah

Once upon grime
With housekeeping contend
Like Mr. Clean I'll be a hero

Once upon a chime
I thought my foibles will mend
Blissfully pierced by cupid's arrow

Sadly fairytales are not true
They are make belief
 Time trudges
Rhyme judges
Bedtime drudge's
A dime budges
Grime smudges
The chime nudges

So I won't waste time
I'll dance with rhyme
I'll treasure bedtime
I'll spend that dime
I'll wipe that grime
I'll sing with the chime

I'll make my own tale come true

Lazy Limerick

I started writing a satirical allegory about work. Then I thought someone might recognize themselves and I get fired. So i got lazy and pumped this out.

I wanted write a great epic poem
At work or just after I got home
I was uninspired
Then I got tired
So I'll just sit here and moan

Searchlight

Eyes are always watching us
God's light searches the earth
Eyes are always watching us

My parents taught me from birth
Jesus cares for each lost sheep
God's light searches the earth

Though you pray your soul to keep
There'll be times that you feel lost
Jesus cares for each lost sheep

The shepherd rescues at great cost
Since we've been saved tell others
There'll be times that you feel lost

Reach out to caring sisters and brothers
We are a luminescent city on a hill
Since we've been saved tell others

Live the message fulfill his will
Eyes are always watching us
We are a luminescent city on a hill
Eyes are always watching us

This is a terzanelle.

Ramlacrostic: U.M.B.R.E.L.L.A

U nder  the umbrella of the old pine tree branches there in the canopy out of the rain we shared our first wet awkward kiss

M any kisses later the kisses are still awkward. Our bodies have figured out the rest. We know each other's needs and wants and how to satisfy them.

B eing at able to be at peace together being silently comfortable in each other's presence feeling safe enough to express honestly when necessary that's love

R omance is the pumpkin spice in the latte of love small thoughtful gestures the chocolate curl on my carrot cupcake like a hard nutty biscotti I melt into you (I need to stop writing at coffee shops)

E lla ella ella ella I'm your fella fella fella your face is the song stuck in my head your voice my favorite playlist your touch plays me like a symphony you are my greatest hit

L adylove luscious luminous and limber leave me and I would langour lachrymose limpid and livid lucky me my loyal lovebird we live in limerance lo and behold all I need is...

L ove

nyway that last stanza said it all...aaaaaall of me loves aaaaaall of you ok now I'm done.

I am me?

[Act I  scene 1 a soliloquy for octpowrimo]
If I were me I'd have to see some I.D.
The stranger in the .mirror  with tired eyes
I am                   an actor                  on a stage
I am                shapeshifter          for the scene
I am                a chameleon       switch at will
I don't know what's real or an affectation
I've lost my self in my self with every role
I am            a christian but       I don't preach
I am            a husband but       I like to look
I am            a loved son but      disobedient
        I                      am                      me
             Who                               ever
                      That may be now
                           Who knows

I suppose it's time to be honest with myself
To recognize that I've played games before
I can begin to create who I want me to be
I will be           a harder worker       not wanting            to cheat time             I will be
A better         lover listen with          my heart I  will  be          a busker plan             and go
I am an actor a chameleon a  shapeshifter
I have the skills to be the one who chooses
My wife my family my friends and my God
     That is all                               that matters
That is             all that             i need
That is            all that             I want
That is           all that              I give
That is          all that               I have
No one will be my director again
No one will write that script
                        I am the author
                         I am the actor
                                 I am
                                  Me

This is a shape poem about me and being an actor. The shape is meant to represent the classic theater masks of comedy and tragedy.

Same, but Choose

If I were God I'd change the world
If I were the devil I'd keep it the same
Same time same station
Same old boys club
Club a baby seal
Club girls are easy prey
Prey just to make it today
Prey hide or run
Run through the jungle
Run down run around Sue
Sue if the victim wants to be on trial
Sue Storm's super smart but invisible
Invisible at promotion time
Invisible scars every woman has some
Some men tell you stay in your place
Some men tell you what to think
Think a nice guy won't try
Think before you leave alone to go home
Home is where you go to be safe
Home can be a trap too
Too little too late
Too legit to quit
Quit your playing around
Quit your wicked ways
Ways and means statute
Ways that used to work work no more
No more excuses
No more place to hide
Hide behind the office
Hide behind the church
Church is supposed to be sanctuary
Church breeds and covers for abusers
Abusers that smile and shake hands
Abusers that think that think it's their right
Right wing policies promote patriarchy
Right now let's start
Start to speak out
Start to respect start to recognize
Recognize the patterns
Recognize the danger
Danger danger Will Robinson
Danger mice danger men
Men that don't see the toxicity of humor
Men have done harm but not all
All men lust objectify and want to
All men every day have to try to choose
Choose not to act to speak to think like men
Choose to be honest to be real
Real
Men

My Monsters

My Monsters

When young and foolish I thought love was torture
Girls  are like grody  kisses  a  ball and chain
But   I   grew    up   and   I  began  to  mature

Puberty bit me hormones drove  me  insane
A    drooling    zombie    insatiable      was    I
Drug   like   desire   became  an  aching  pain

Ex cru ci a ting    at    least     I    had    to     try
To capture the beast that had caused such distress
For   Jeckle   to   live   Mister   Hyde   has  to  die

It  rattles  its  chains I have learned to confess
I   would   like   to   say   this   affliction  is  gone
This Tarzan has found his own Jane to caress

My  caveman  ways have gone with the mastodon
Rainbows  golden  pot  true love's a leprechaun

Crack your Cheeks

Day 11: Falling Through The Cracks

“Your soulmate wasn't supposed to be perfect. You were meant to see the cracks in her soul and fill them with what you have and she was meant to see yours. Together you would be complete.”
Shannon L. Alder

Welcome to Day 11! Today’s prompt is Falling through the cracks. Nothing is perfect and sometimes, things do slip through those pesky cracks. I found the quote above on Goodreads and love the idea that when we blend our imperfections, we create something beautiful. How do you deal with things that slip through? Is it ok to reveal our flaws? Do you need to be brave to fall?

This is a cascade poem http://www.shadowpoetry.com/resources/wip/cascade.html

Come blow you winds and crack your cheeks
Crack my skull and crack the code
Crack open a cold one crack some jokes
Come crack the sky and take me home

When thunder cracks and lightning blinds
The ship tries to capsize waves to drown
I'm not afraid the Stormlord stands with me
Come blow you winds and crack your cheek

The mind's a puzzle the heart an enigma
Toxic thoughts locked up emotions frozen
To melt imaginations and soul love is the key
Crack my skull and crack the code

Why is God's glory in cracked pot like me?
So light shines through and is not hid
The message of love is not preached but lived
Crack open a cold one crack some jokes

I sneeze and crack my  neck back knees
The ugly old dude cracking the mirror is me
If it's the world or just me at the end of days
Come crack the sky and take me home

Starshine

The house of many voices
Validated my choices

She tossed back her ginger blaze hair
I nearly fell out of my chair

She let poetry show me her heart
That she was cheeky nerdy and smart

For years we were stuck around the friend zone
Foot by foot we pushed towards the endzone

We scored a touchdown she said will you be mine
I'm over the moon I'm walking on starshine

Love is the sky

Love is the Sky

The sweet sun lovingly warms the face
Gentle breezes cool the feverish brow
Soft and comfy as fluffy pillow clouds
Warm dewy rain draws out your seed
Energetic sun feeds the storeroom leaves
The playful wind stirs your ample fruit
Love is the Sky
 *
Love is the Sky
Over your first hot summer fling
Still sultry air steals away your breath
Passionate sol blazes too hot too bright
Leaving your heart skin scalded
Third degree lobster red easily irritated
A lightly gust has sandpaper bite
Love is the Sky
*
Love is the Sky
When one system runs hot
The other one shuts down coldly
Emotional wind stirs dirt to sting eyes
Dark clouds build on furrowed brows
Fronts clash  lightning words burn bridges
Screaming wind turns healthy woods to ash
Love is the Sky
*
Love is the Sky
When the tropical storm is not your own
An unstoppable attack from nature's forces
Love is the eye a place run a place to hide
Spirit wind pushes your sails to safe harbor
Love is the anchor that weathers the waves
Despite damage it will pass sun will shine
Love is the Sky
*
Love is the Sky
When darkness falls and you are lost
It's the million little things that shine
Examine these memories be reminded
Connect the dots and they will guide
The whispering zephyr shoos clouds aside
Silver illuminates the path home
Love is the Sky
*
Love is the Sky
Turned dark midday as ghosts strolled free
Love hung between earth and eternity
Loves' blood dripping a healing rain
The perfect lamb accepted once for all
Third day's rosy vault lit on an empty tomb
Love's final curtain rose to prepare a home
 Love is the Sky
*
Love is the Sky
When your long day is almost done
Tired wind cools lifes dew on  your brow
Loved ones gather on memory porch
A kaleidoscope sky plays your story
Frogs and crickets sing to love lived well
The last glimmer winks out with a sigh
Love is in the sky

You're my Crazy Song

I was looking for some music to inspire as I wrote. I thought how the titles made a sort of story. So I wrote that  story. I'm using the terms as a metaphor.     No offense meant to anyone with mental illness.

When I was young I
I could ride the crazy train all night
I explored this mad mad world
But found out that people are strange
And they're coming to take me away

As a young man
I woke up one manic Monday
Thinking 'I want to be sedated '
Soon the manic depression
Was runing my life
I felt insane in my membrane
I took Maxwell's silver hammer
And painted it black

I sought this crazy little thing called love
Till I met a girl who gave me crazy love
I lay in her crazy  arms
Sure  some days she drives me crazy
But darling if you ever left me
I'd miss you like crazy
So shine on you crazy diamond
Someday I'll look over my  newspaper
Smile fondly and say
Still crazy after all these years

Dear Mark

Dear Mark,

Congratulations!
You have made it one week
You grinded out a poem a day
You let it brew all day in your mind
You found a form
You wove the threads together
You stitched into a literary tapestry
You spent late hours to polish it
You spent early hours to post it
Finally you zombie walked to bed
However here you are in church
Writing this note
Today is your Thanksgiving meal
You have not gone to bed
At the same time as your wife
For a week now
So please finish this
Please post this
Eat some cranberries, stuffing, and pie
Go to bed with your wife tonight

Love Mark, your lonely, thankful, and horny self

Love is conquerer
Love is a super hero
It gives you the power

The power of flight.
To soar over some problems
To face the others together

Sing your song

This poem is inspired by feelings stirred up by a documentary called 'Harry Belefonte: Sing your Song.' While it was a wonderful depiction of roots and rise to fame with footage and performances its purpose was to show how race and racism were wound throughout his story. I think relentless, fearless, lifelong activism is his true talent. Despite being denied, he would not be denied while still grinning ear to ear.

Sing your song
Sing it loud
Loud and long
Loud and proud
Proud young cannibals
Proud Mary burning
Burning crosses
Crosses and noughts
Crosses my mind
Mind your manners, boy
Mind your place
Place your toe over the line
Place in this world
World peace council
World without end
End apartheid
End hunger
Hunger for freedom
Hunger games
Games and puzzles
Games people play
Play boy but don't eat with us
Play station
Station wagon
Station in life
Life is precious
Life is love
Love is love is love
Love line
Line up shoulder to shoulder
Line forms in the back
Back door for y'all
Back in black
Black lives matter
Black hole star
Star of the show
Star of wonder
Wonder why  Sammy and Louis
Wonder why Bellefonte and Ray
Ray of sunshine
Ray of hope
Hope beyond hope
Hope the word gets from ears to hearts
Hearts have to change
Hearts forgive but always remember
Remember history again
Remember rising singing, 'NEVER
NEVER
AGAN'

Madam I'm Adam

Madam I'm Adam

'Madam I'm Adam' said Adam Ant
I'm adamant madam that we make time
For things that would be most pleasant
To reach the heights of the sublime
Stopping just short of being deviant'

'Sir you are an ant and I am a seal
While your kind offer is gallant
The biology is unfortunately unreal
Wait would our progeny be a sealant?
While I'm flattered sorry but no deal

You can understand why I'm reluctant
My faultless logic makes me sad
But the science of it is really relevant
Because your offer is the best I've had
It leaves my heart feeling vacant'

Adam sighed as deep as an ant can
'To show you that I'm not a peasant
I'd like to propose to you this plan
Let's go dancing share a pheasant
Sip champagne and a seafood flan'

After an evening so resplendant
Sally Seal slapped flippers in delight
The force knocked Adam Ant dormant
She slapped her tail barked in  fright
And began to chant 'I recant I recant'

He stirred having only stunned himself
'I'll buy you a farm and make you tenant'
So he lives with his family on the shelf
To protect them Sally is militant
And they bring magic like her own elf

She found her own beau and confidante
Sally Seal and Sealy Dan live at the zoo
In an environment so resplendant
Adam Ant and Amanda Ant live there too
They all sit letting the sunset enchant

Insecurity Guard

This was hard. To face the roots of insecurity. I've only scratched the surface. Then to cram emotions into structure.

I'm the son of a preacherma
Represent and follow the plan
Do the right thing make the right choice
Now I still hear my mother's voice  be all you can

Now my sister was wild bolder
She was also three years older
I was a kid she was sixteen
My folks made me tell what I'd seen my world colder

I have issues of rejection
When feeling loss of affection
I find friendship so hard to fake
As a result I can not make the connection

We all face insecurity
Say you don't you're lying to me
It's something we must overcome
Sing out your fear and bang  the drum faith comes to be

Poems and Notes

The prompt is 'poems and notes'. Some short  notelike forms were suggested. I used them all. First a Tanaka (5-7-5-7-7 syllables per line.) Then 3 cinquains (a 5 line form) a part of speech cinquain(1 noun-2 adjectives-3 -ing action words-4 word phrase-1 synonym for the 1st noun), a word count cinquain (1-2-3-4-1) and a syllable count cinquain (2-4-6-8-2)

'He is a nice boy
Everybody likes him
But he's a dreamer
He needs to apply himself'
~a note from every teacher~

Sonorous earthly
Practicing playing singing
Down on the corner

A doorway
Portal to joy
Floodgate for heart songs

Bleeding worship
Push against injustice
Redrafting myself with scribbles

Surrendered Dreams

Sometimes surrender is just finally accepting the inevitable and making plans of how to manage it. Failure to do so may make things worse. It will then be too late to implement the plans. I believe in faith, hope, and the power of positive thinking to a point. Practical pragmatism may also need to come into play. Continued ignoring creates ignorance. Ignorance is only bliss for a moment.  When the bare burning truth is stamped on your heart it tastes like betrayal and shame.

Surrendered Dreams

When I was young
I thought I'd be a stuntmen
Rolling with the punches
Safely crashing old cars
Striding from exploding backdrops
Hollywood never called
I never went
Now a slip on the ice
Aches for days

I thought I'd be a rockstar
Prancing center stage
Trying to keep the girls away
Getting prime time radio play
Nashville never called
I never went
Now I'm happy with a handful
Of coins in my guitar case

I thought I'd be an actor
Name up on the marquee
Smiling down red carpets
Lightning up the stage
Broadway never called
I never went
Now I'm happy with a few lines
In my local church play

I thought I'd be a comedian
Have them rolling in the aisles
Headlining a national tour
Getting my own sit-com
Comedy store never called
I never went
Now I'm happy with a laugh from
Well planned well placed jokes

I thought I'd find a girl
Who would be my whole world
Who would be worth the wait
I did not hesitate
When you called
And I went
Now I'm happy I'm satisfied
No surrender no compromise

Unrequited

Unrequited

I had resigned to live with love

Unrequited

Until feelings grew from friendship

Univited

Your mind shared opened mine

To possibilities

Unsighted

I stoppered my soul

Full of poems

Unrecited

From other parts flowed passions

Unignited

You asked for an answer

For this partnership

Undecided

You have requited love

To one thought done

Your smile, your touch

Has turned my 'un-' to sun
