Northern Exposure
Us Canadians will get exposure
To harsh elements beyond our control
Getting frozen out torn by prairie winds
The secret you learn: hiding in layers
On the pound of flesh you leave exposed
Bite of burning cold electrifies nerves
Fingers in rictus like touching live wires
How a cold shoulder can turn you so blue
Or flash bulbs expose backlit negatives
Called on the carpet there is no escape
So smile and swish strike a saucy pose
Exposure is good to gain infamy
You may fear the sun or the bitter winds
But pull back layers and your heart may bloom
* *----* *
Burried in the fall
Hidden in winter till spring
Seed finds summer bloom
This is beautifully written - and it hits just a LITTLE close to home for me. Well done.
